New Health Clinic Opens in Fort Fairfield

Fort Fairfield Journal, June 26, 2013

Members of the family of the late Dr. Herrick Kimball were on hand for the dedication ceremony of the new Kimball Community Health Clinic, in Fort Fairfield last Friday morning.

After a corporate decision made five years ago was going to leave the town of Fort Fairfield without any local health care services, the Fort Fairfield Quality of Place Council and Fort Fairfield Town Council formulated a plan that would create a building owned by the town that could be leased to a qualified health care provider.

The project’s greatest advocate was town manager, Dan Foster, who worked tirelessly to see this project through to its completion and made it his own personal mission to make sure Fort Fairfield inhabitants had access to health care that they could control into the foreseeable future.

Started last fall, the clinic building, which is located on the same campus as the new senior citizen housing, was completed ahead of schedule and on budget.

“This health center is a culmination of years of hard work, involving three different citizen committees, the Town Council, Cary Medical Center and Pines Health Services” stated Dan Foster, Town Manager of Fort Fairfield. “The goal has always been for the community to have an open dialogue with a healthcare provider regarding the delivery of economically sustainable healthcare services to our citizens.”

The new Kimball Community Health Center offers primary care, behavioral health, case management, prescription assistance and rehabilitation services.

In response to community needs, Pines physicians in specialties such as Pediatrics and General Surgery will be added. The Pines team has received a very warm welcome from everyone in Fort Fairfield.

“People in Fort Fairfield have welcomed us with open arms, and we’re excited to become part of the community” said Jim Davis, Pines CEO. “It’s a privilege for us to be invited to serve.

Thanks to great work by town officials and countless residents of Fort Fairfield, the beautiful new health center is now a reality and a highly visible asset for the community. We look forward to serving the entire community and residents of nearby towns as we continue to deliver the right care, in the right place, at the right time.”
