The Roberts Trap is Sprung

One of the most overlooked aspects of the year just ended is the vindication of Chief Justice John Roberts -- a vindication that showed up as the national catastrophe known as ObamaCare got rolling.  Roberts may have also doomed Hillary Clinton's chance to live in the White House again... click here to read whole editorial

Skating Club Hosts 33rd Annual Musical On Ice

Fort Fairfield Journal, March 18, 2015

The Northern Maine Figure Skating Club (NMFSC) presented their 33rd annual Musical on Ice last Saturday at The Forum in Presque Isle.  The theme for this year's show was The Little Mermaid and featured over 50 skaters of varying ages from 2 to 20+ years old from the area.

The show, which lasts about an hour and forty-five minutes, began to be prepared last Fall.  "We start preparing for the show almost when skating starts for us in October," said NMFSC President, Mindy Aube.   "We start with picking a theme, deciding on costumes, assigning lead roles and then as the season progresses about Christmas time we start breaking the kids into groups and beginning to get together what exactly it is they're going to do.  Then the beginning of February we start specifically working on all of the choreography for each particular group and they work for about five weeks on that to get ready to do these performances."

This year's show featured several solists: Allison Madore, Lee Ireland, Marta Herzog, Katelyn White, Jessica Aube and Kimberly Cook.

"Our club was pleased to welcome many new skaters this year.  It was exciting to watch these skaters progress from that very first and sometimes fearful step onto the ice holding firmly onto a coach, or helper, to seeing them successfully skate away on their own and enjoying their accomplishments."
