FORT FAIRFIELD—Eleven year-old Josie Adams, a sixth grader at Fort Fairfield Middle/High School, recently attended the national meeting of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in National Harbor, Maryland on March 5.
She was entered to win some tickets from the Students for Trump organization when her mother submitted the request along with a video of her from a few years ago cheering along with a video of a rally for presidential candidate, Donald Trump.
CPAC is organized by the American Conservative Union (ACU). Formed in 1964, the ACU is an American political organization that advocates for conservative policies, and ranks politicians based on their level of conservatism. The ACU is concerned with issues such as personal liberty or freedom, foreign policy, and traditional values, which they define as foundations of conservatism.
Josie is in the Gifted and Talented program at FFMHS. She is very articulate with her views and can converse in any philosophical conversation with educated adults at a level far above her peers. Her grasp of current events and cultural phenomena, and her ability to verbally form them into cohesive thoughts, is impressive for her age. In personal conversations with her, this writer has to keep reminding himself she is only eleven years old.
Josie has written a brief article on her experience at the CPAC event, as follows:

I recently won tickets to CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) via an organization called Students for Trump. The final date of the conference was held March 4 at the Gaylord Resort and Convention Center in Maryland. I was only able to attend on the last day, but I saw plenty of action.
From former congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard to former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, the event had no shortage of speakers. The first speech I saw was from Tulsi Gabbard. She spoke on action; “we have no time to waste,” she said, “our country is counting on us”.
The next speaker was Jair Bolsonaro, former Brazilian president. He ran for president as a conservative in Brazil, a socialist country. When he came close to winning the election, he was brutally attacked by a liberal activist. He miraculously recovered, and won the election. He was ousted by the Brazilian Supreme Court in 2022. He spoke on the freedoms he gave the people of Brazil. He said he forced no one to be vaccinated, “they kept saying science, science, science,” he said, “and I kept saying freedom, freedom, freedom.” He embraced gun rights; “an armed nation cannot be enslaved, and an armed nation will never be subjugated.”
Mike Lindell, founder of MyPillow, also spoke on fighting voter fraud.
I think the biggest part of the event on Saturday was former President Trump's speech. All attendees were ecstatic during the speech. I also noticed a massive turnout with young people like me. I was quite surprised that so many young people hadn't been indoctrinated in schools and in public. It gives a sort of hope, because I thought that most of our younger generation was wrapped up in the liberal propaganda that we hear constantly on the news and on social media. I actually have the slightest amount of hope for this generation.
So, in summary, CPAC was a great event that was informative and eye-opening. I am proud of the people of this country for turning out in droves to CPAC. It was a great experience, and I look forward to attending again sometime in the future.
