After Three Votes Perham Voters

Still Nix Wheel Loader Purchase

PERHAM, Maine—“If at first you don’t succeed, try and try again”, seems to be the motto of the Perham selectmen when they don’t get their way with the voters in their town.

During their annual town meeting in March, voters defeated the purchase of a new $106,000 wheel loader for the highway department with a 31-31 tie.

A few weeks later, the selectmen called another vote, hoping to gain a few more of their confederates to secure a victory. However, the purchase still lost by one vote.

At a third vote held on May 17, the voters again declined the purchase but approved a $30,000 repair job by a vote margin of 45-42.
