Mainers to Be Asked to Outlaw Truly Private

   It seems every year the Massachusetts communists transplanted in Portland manage to either get the legislature or the citizenry to consider outlawing private sales of firearms between private individuals who are not Federal Firearms Licensed dealers.

   This year the attempted coup against firearms sales comes in the form of a referendum question.   This November, Question 3 asks if the voter wants to outlaw private firearms sales between friends and neighbors without them first going through a federal background check.

   Background checks offer people a false sense of security.  They do not guarantee the person buying the firearm will not use it improperly.  Background checks only deal with people who have already been convicted of a felony and have the propensity to do harm.  However, some felonies are purely administrative, like tax cheaters, and have nothing to do with a person's propensity to do physical harm to others.

   Firearms are private property, just like baseball bats, tire irons, collectible knives and automobiles.  Like firearms, the aforementioned items can also be used improperly to do harm to another person, but even the Southern Maine communists don't believe they have the citizenry brainwashed enough to require background checks for the private sales of those items of property.

   Nearly every year the Maine Legislature considers making private sales illegal and every year they refuse.  This year, the communists in Southern Maine are hoping they have enough voters conned so they can forge the next step in their gun registry and confiscation scheme so they can begin to subject Mainers to the worst possible form of tyranny, once they are disarmed.
