RUTH E. BARNES

 

Fort Fairfield – Ruth E. Barnes, 98, wife of the late Ronald E. Barnes, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 3, 2016 at a Presque Isle nursing facility. She was born September 13, 1917 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of William K. and Myrtle (Morris) Foss. She was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, was married to Ronald E. Barnes on May 5, 1939 and had attended the Fort Fairfield Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barnes was predeceased by her husband, Ronald on February 22, 1987; one daughter, Brenda L. Findlen on May 20, 2003; one son, Dana W. Barnes on March 1, 2016; two sisters, Thelma Olsen and Joyce Foss. She is survived by two sons, Bruce Barnes and his wife Kathy, Jason Barnes and his wife Deborah; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dana (Carol) Barnes, all of Fort Fairfield; son-in-law, Jerry Findlen of Clinton; one sister, Edna Everett of Presque Isle; nine grandchildren, Ronald Barnes and his wife Meagan, Tracy Barnes and her fiancé Bill Akeley, Sharon Churchill and her husband Jerry, James Smith, all of Fort Fairfield, Kristen DeBrosky and her husband Joe of Rockport, Sean Findlen of Lewiston, Robbie Chambers of South Carolina, Kerri Knox of Lisbon, NH, Justin Barnes of Hoover, AL; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The Barnes family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Special Care Unit at the Presque Isle Nursing Home for the wonderful care Ruth received during her stay there.   Friends may call Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield where the funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 noon with the Rev. Brent Churchill officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the service at the Fort Fairfield Lions Club, 204 Forest Avenue. Interment will take place later in the spring at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Barnes to the Fort Fairfield Public Library, 339 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
