HELEN G. BUBAR
Fort Fairfield – Helen G. Bubar, 78, wife of Roger W. Bubar, passed away Friday evening, March 30, 2018 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a brief illness. She was born March 24, 1940 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Herbert and Teresa (Dionne) Gillespie. She attended Fort Fairfield schools and the St. Mary’s Seminary, Nashua, NH, and was a graduate of the Aroostook State Teachers College, Presque Isle, where she received a bachelor’s degree in education. Helen was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Santa Maria Circle Number 427, Fort Fairfield, the St. Louis Catholic Church Prayer Team, and the Ladies of St. Anne Sodality, Limestone. Helen had been employed as a teacher at the Limestone School Department for over 30 years, teaching band, English, drama, and various other positions. She also served as librarian at the Easton School. Helen will be remembered as an inspiration to her students and fellow educators. In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by two brothers, Wilfred and Ralph Gillespie; three sisters, Katherine Gillespie, Martina Gillespie, and Sr. Mary Adeline Gillespie, CND. She is survived by her husband of nearly fifty years, Roger W. Bubar of Fort Fairfield; two daughters, Mary Maynard and her husband Todd of Fort Fairfield, Georgette Bubar and her husband D.J. Rand of Houston, TX; one brother, Peter Gillespie of Limestone; four sisters, Jeanne Byrne of Ocala, FL, Marjorie Murray of South Portland, Germaine Staples and her husband Richard of Mansfield, CT, Anne Santinelli of Milford, NH; four grandchildren, Devin Ireland of Gilbert, AZ, Kendra Ireland of Houston, TX, Teresa Maynard and Justin Maynard, both of Fort Fairfield; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends called Wednesday April 4, 2018 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday April 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, 100 Main Street, Limestone. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments was held after the Mass in the parish hall. Spring interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.
