EMERY L. “BLAISE” CALDWELL

Caribou & Homosassa, FL – Emery L. “Blaise” Caldwell, 88, passed away December 19, 2018 in Lecanto, Fl, following an extended illness. He was born June 3, 1930 in Limestone, the son of Douglas and Inez (Shorey) Caldwell. He attended Limestone schools and was married to Ferne G. Pelkey on December 27, 1954. His family remembers him as the hardest working man they have ever known. He knew everybody in the “County” and they knew him from his days of farming in Limestone and running a trucking business. He had also been employed by Lane Construction as a heavy equipment operator and later worked for Ryder as a truck driver. Blaise was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing from his camp in the Allagash and lived on fifty wooded acres on Green Ridge in Caribou. He loved it there. He had a strong belief in the Bible and the reunion of souls, and to that end, his family wishes him God Speed! In addition to his parents, Blaise was predeceased by his wife Ferne on October 1, 2003; two brothers, Keith and Gerald Caldwell. He is survived by his companion, Doreen Campbell of Homosassa, FL; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Michael Findlen of Lecanto, FL; three stepdaughters, Emily Tarbox of Fort Fairfield, Alta Anderson and her husband Roger of West Palm Beach, FL, Avis Clark and her husband David of Crystal River, FL; five brothers, Cyrus Caldwell of Homosassa, FL, Ralph Caldwell of Brewer, Douglas “Taddy” Caldwell of Ocala, FL, Les Caldwell and his wife Charlene of Boston, MA, Lesle Ellsworth of Bangor; two sisters, Lorraine Page and her husband Charles of Ocala, FL, Joan Bacon of Stewart, FL; two grandchildren, Troy McLean and Melanie Willette, both of Lecanto, FL; four great grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke McLean, Jared Harvey, and Jordan Bryan; seven step-grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In keeping with Mr. Caldwell’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be conducted in the spring at the Green Ridge Cemetery, Caribou. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Blaise to the Fort Fairfield Wesleyan Church, P.O. Box 202, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gibersondorseyfuneralhome.com
