BETTY J. EVERETT

Fort Fairfield – Betty J. Everett, 89, wife of the late Vaughn R. Everett, passed away Wednesday morning, October 11, 2017 at her Fort Fairfield home, following a period of declining health. She was born July 10, 1928 in Tinker, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Frank A. and Mable (Argraves) Glew. She attended Aroostook, N.B. schools and was married to Vaughn R. Everett on February 13, 1947. Betty was a dedicated member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fort Fairfield, having served on the St. Paul’s Alter Guild, was a member of the E.C.W. Woman’s Group, and served on the St. Paul’s Vestry for seventeen years. She also volunteered for many of the church’s activities including the annual chicken barbeque and served on many bereavement receptions. Betty’s family will dearly remember her as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The Everett family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Betty’s neighborhood family and also her caregivers, Karen Heath, Stacy Coty and Duska Day for the excellent and loving care provided to Betty over the past several years. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband Vaughn on April 7, 1960; two sons, Jeffrey W. Everett and Stephen G. Everett; one daughter, Susan J. Everett; one brother, Gordon Glew; four sisters, Reta Sloat, Molly Schofield, Kathleen Cronkite and Peggy Levesque. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy J. and Sue Everett of Augusta; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Everett of Manchester; four grandchildren, Stacy Edgecomb of Fort Fairfield, Alison Everett of Augusta, Jason Everett of Augusta, Joe Blanchette of Topsham; seven great grandchildren, Sara and Sadie Edgecomb, Emma Charest, Parker and Alexis Everett, Isaiha and Elijah Blanchette; several nieces and nephews. Friends called 10:00 a.m. Saturday October 14, 2017 at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service was conducted at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Robert Smith officiating. Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments followed at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall, 170 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
