WILLIS C. GLEW

Madawaska & Fort Fairfield – Willis C. Glew, 86, husband of Maida J. (Hammond) Glew, passed away Friday morning August 3, 2018 at a Fort Kent healthcare facility, following an extended illness. He was born February 20, 1932 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Gordon Sr. and Mary (Donovan) Glew. He was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1952. He became employed by the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad in 1954 where he worked as a brakeman and conductor and spent twenty-five years as a engineer until his retirement in 1994, and was a member of the Maine National Guard for 8 years. He was married to Maida J. Hammond on June 28, 1953 and was a member of the former Fort Fairfield Masonic Lodge and later became affiliated with the Limestone Masonic Lodge No. 214 AF & AM. He was also a member of the Anah Temple Shrine for many years. Willis enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, hunting, story telling, singing and spending time with his family. His grandchildren were very special to both him and Maida. In addition to his parents, Willis was predeceased by three brothers, George, Gordon Jr. and Minard “Mike” Glew; six sisters, Maxine McKay, Elva Hamilton, Gloria Page, Marilla Gambrell, Jane Ann Glew and Diane Toner. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Maida J. Glew of Madawaska; one son and daughter-in-law Michael and Odette Glew of Van Buren; one daughter, Lorrie I. Rich of Grand Isle; three grandchildren, Travis J. Rich and his fiancé Danielle Daigle of Long Lake, Willis M. Glew of Van Buren, Angela Cyr and her husband Jeremy of Madawaska; one brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Jane Glew of Fort Fairfield and South Carolina; several nieces, nephews and many special friends too numerous to list. A graveside service was conducted Wednesday August 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield by the officers of the Limestone Masonic Lodge No. 214 AF & AM. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Glew to the Limestone Masonic Lodge No 214 AF & AM, c/o Robert Hancock, 10 Leighton Avenue, Limestone, Maine 04750.
