ALBERT L. HOBBS

 

HOULTON:  Albert L. Hobbs 72 passed away Saturday evening May 23, 2015 at his home in Houlton. He was born November 21, 1942 in Caribou, the son of Philip N. and Autis (Dickinson) Hobbs. He married his high school sweetheart Lorraine A.  (Finnemore) 52 years ago. They had five boys, Steven who died at birth.

Albert graduated from Husson College in 1964 and went into banking with the then Washburn Trust Company eventually serving as its President. He also was a senior officer with The Merrill Trust Company, First Citizens Bank, and The Katahdin Trust Company. In 1987 he purchased Brown’s Jewelry stores in Caribou and Presque Isle which he operated for ten years.

   His community service included serving on the The Aroostook Medical Center Board of Directors for over 20 years, Eastern Maine Healthcare, Merrill Bancshares Board of Directors, Maine Bankers of Board of Directors, and member of the Washburn School Board. After retirement in 2006 he and Lorraine joined New Tribes Mission as Associate Missionaries serving with them for the next four years. He has been active in his church serving in many different capacities. He was a member of the East Hodgden Bible Church.  Albert is survived by his wife Lorraine of Houlton, four sons; Gregory and his wife Michel of Jackson, MI, Timothy and his wife Suzanne of Presque Isle, Jeffrey and his wife Cathy of Houlton, and Daniel of Houlton,  three grandsons and one granddaughter, Matthew, Caleb, Seth and Rachel, three brothers Wayne, Keith, and Philip. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers Donald and Dale.

   Calling hours will be held 6-8PM Wed. May 27, 2015 at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home 30 Church St. Presque Isle where funeral services will be held 1PM Thursday with Pastors Sean Malloy and David Goupille officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou.
