ROBERTA GRANT HOLLAND

Fort Fairfield & Presque Isle – Roberta Grant Holland, 100, wife of the late Joseph Holland, passed away Thursday morning, October 5, 2017 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a brief illness. She was born January 31, 1917 in Columbia, Maine, the daughter of Roscoe and Vera (Ingersoll) Grant. Roberta graduated co-salutatorian from Columbia Falls High School and was married to Joseph Holland on July 3, 1938 in Machias, Maine. She was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Santa Maria Circle Number 427, Fort Fairfield, the Private Bridge Club, and the National Associations of Retired Federal Employees. She was co-owner and a broker at Holland Real Estate in Fort Fairfield for many years and traveled to many places with her husband Joe during their retirement years. She had been a resident of Fort Fairfield for nearly fifty years and had resided at Leisure Village in Presque Isle for the past fourteen years, where she was very active in many projects and Skip-Bo was a true passion of hers. She enjoyed a wonderful 100th Birthday Party there in January. In addition to her parents, Roberta was predeceased by her husband Joseph; one daughter, Mrs. Norman (Elaine) Grant; one son-in-law, Jerry Behnke; three brothers, Morton, Ronald and Gerald Grant; two sisters, Shirley Grant Pineo and Winnifred Grant Rybczyk. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Holland Campbell and her husband Richard of Buxton, Janet Holland Behnke of Raymond; son-in-law, Norman Grant of Fort Fairfield; one sister, Kathleen Grant Watts of Lisbon; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family of Mrs. Holland wishes to express their sincere gratitude to both The Aroostook Medical Center and Leisure Village for the wonderful care and compassion given to Roberta and her family over the years. A service was conducted Monday, October 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with Deacon Carl Joseph Gallagher officiating. Interment followed at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments was held after the interment at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Council Number 1753, Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
