ANITA M. HOLMES

 

Fort Fairfield – Anita M. Holmes, 71, wife of Bailey E. Holmes, passed away Thursday evening, September 3, 2015 at a Caribou healthcare facility, following an extended illness. She was born December 31, 1943 in Perth, New Brunswick, the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Herthaway) Lovely. She attended school in Perth, New Brunswick and was married to Bailey E. Holmes on December 21, 1963. She was a dedicated homemaker and also worked seasonally in the potato house for Nightingale Enterprises, Fort Fairfield. Anita’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life. She also loved cooking, baking, chatting with friends on facebook and especially loved visits from family and friends. In addition to her parents, Anita was predeceased by three sisters, Linda, Sharon and Margaret Lovely. She is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years, Bailey E. Holmes of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Brenda Saucier and her companion James L. Pelletier of Howland; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Nowlan, Marie and Mike Murphy, all of Fredericton, NB, Lavada Johnston and Bonnie Smith, both of Perth, NB, Judy Sargefield of Hartland, NB, Joyce and Dalton Smith of Perth, NB; three grandchildren, Joseph Saucier and his wife Lacey of St. Louis, MO, Dustin Saucier of Portland, Elizabeth Porter and her husband Stephen of Caribou; eight great grandchildren, Elijah, Malachi, Kaydence, Abram, Kassidy , Ezra, Lily and Thomas; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday September 13, 2015 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home 144 Maine Street, Fort Fairfield, where a Service to Celebrate Anita’s Life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the interment at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Holmes to Jefferson Cary Foundation, where all proceeds will go towards the O/B ward, 163 Van Buren Road, Caribou, Maine 04736.
