BAILEY E. HOLMES

Fort Fairfield – Bailey E. Holmes, 83, husband of the late Anita M. Holmes, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 3, 2017 at a Mars Hill healthcare facility, following an extended illness. He was born December 26, 1933 in Upper Kent, New Brunswick, the son of Allen and Doris (Wright) Holmes, and attended local schools. Bailey was married to Anita M. Lovely on December 21, 1963 and had been employed by Nightingale Farms, Fort Fairfield for over 40 years. Bailey will be remembered as a quite man, a hard worker and a “putterer” who loved to work on anything and everything. In addition to his parents, Bailey was predeceased by his wife Anita on September 3, 2015; one brother, Leonard Holmes; two sisters, Lucille Baker and Audrey Wortman. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and James Pelletier of Howland; one brother, Alden Holmes of Presque Isle; two sisters, Loretta York of Presque Isle, Carmen Hoyt of New York State; three grandchildren, Joseph Saucier and his wife Lacy of Hazelwood, MO, Dustin Saucier and his companion Eleshia Monroe of Wiscasset, Elizabeth Porter and her husband Steven of Caribou; eight great grandchildren, Elijah, Malachi, Kaydence, Abram, Kassidy, Ezra, Lily and Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.  A graveside service was conducted Saturday June 10, 2017 a 3:00 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Holmes to the Aroostook Health Center Activities Fund, 15 Highland Avenue, Mars Hill, Maine 04758.
