MAXINE V. LEEPER

 

Fort Fairfield – Maxine V. Leeper, 88, wife of the late Verne Leeper, passed away Tuesday evening August 2, 2016 at a Van Buren nursing facility. She was born October 18, 1927 in Kent Parish, New Brunswick, the daughter of Harden and Alice (Lockhart) Oakes. She attended Fort Fairfield schools and had been employed as a retail clothing clerk and also worked as a beautician for a number of years. In addition to her parents, Maxine was predeceased by her husband Verne; one son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Pauline Richards; one brother, Hollis Oakes; two sisters, Elouise Oakes Engler and Muriel LaPointe; one nephew, Terry LaPointe. She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Sheila Oakes of Vacaville, CA; two grandsons, Lee Richards of Bangor, Russell Richards of Hamden; five nieces and nephews and spouses, Carla and David Hayes of Easton, Hollis and Bridget LaPointe of Bennington, VT, Heidi James of Fort Fairfield, Tyler and Priscilla LaPointe of Presque Isle, Narda and Mark Guiou of Fort Fairfield; several great nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will take place at Mt. Shiloh Cemetery, Easton. Those who wish many contribute in memory of Mrs. Leeper to the Borderview Rehab and Living Center, 208 State Street, Van Buren, Maine 04785.
