ELLA MAE LOUISE (MCGARY) MICHAUD
FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine - Ella Mae Louise (McGary) Michaud, 86, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday evening, August 10, 2015.
Ella Mae was born May 24, 1929 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of the late Harold and Ethel (Green) McGary. She was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1946 and in 1947, Ella Mae wed John Michaud Sr. and enjoyed 59 years of marriage before his death in 2006. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a lifelong Fort Fairfield resident. For many years, Ella Mae was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Fort Fairfield. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, wonderful cook and baker. Ella Mae was an animal lover, adored dogs and her cats. She was especially fond of crocheting, knitting and above all spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her six children, Sue Ann White and her husband Jesse of Coventry, Connecticut; Robin Leighton and her husband Jeffrey of Fort Fairfield; John Michaud Jr and his wife Stacie of Hebron, Connecticut; Steven Michaud of Easton; Brent Michaud and his wife Rhonda of Fort Fairfield; Scott Michaud and his wife Donna of Presque Isle; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Ella Mae is also survived by two sisters, Kay Carter of Holden and Shirley Flanagan of South Portland. She was predeceased by two sisters Lucy Michael, Helen O’Neal and one brother Harold McGary Jr.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the wonderful doctors and nurses who took such great care of her at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, The Aroostook Medical Center, Presque Isle, Presque Isle Nursing Home and to all her many friends and family members for their prayers and support throughout her illness.
Friends may call Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Roger Jewell officiaitng. Interment will follow at the Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield immediately following the interment service.
