Frederick H. Nightingale

Stuart, Florida & Fort Fairfield, Maine - Frederick H. Nightingale Sr., Known to many in the North East as, CB handle “Party Boy” passed away on May 13, 2016 at the age of 70, peacefully at his home in Stuart, FL.  “Freddy” as most others knew him, was born in Perth Andover, NB on April 2, 1946 and was raised in Fort Fairfield, ME.   He was the oldest of 4 children to Dorothy and the Late Herman Wilfred Nightingale.

Fred was known for his great sense of humor. He was good looking to a fault and loved his family more than anything.   He was well known, loved and respected in the trucking industry with a career that spanned over 40 years in the field.  He started in the business in 1964 driving for himself (Nightingale Farms).  He later drove for Pottle’s Transportation, in Bangor, ME and then turned in the keys, and started working as a dispatcher.  He continued his career as a dispatcher with Sargent’s trucking, in Mars Hill, ME.  With his life long experience and love for trucking, Fred opened and ran his own company, Nightingale Transportation in 1999 until 2008 when he semi-retired. Fred and his longtime love and best friend Joan Bacon, relocated and retired to Florida.  They spent their retirement days enjoying the warm weather, boating and visiting with family and friends. Fred of course, worked on his tan which he thoroughly enjoyed doing with a cold beverage in hand.  He and Joan loved the Florida life. They enjoyed taking the boat out, which always made Joan nervous as to what adventures may lay ahead out on the water.  Fred watched the weather reports daily from his man cave i.e.; side porch equipped with a flat screen TV, a refrigerator always stocked with cold beverages, lots of space for company to sit and always within a few steps from one of his favorite toys; his Red Mustang golf cart, which he enjoyed for easy get-a-ways to the pool, or to check on his pontoon.  He loved entertaining and having company.  He was so proud of all his children, and grandchildren.  Fred had such a beautiful soul.  Fred is predeceased by his father Herman Nightingale, and Granddaughter Charlee Jane Berry.  He is survived by Partner Joan Bacon of Stuart, FL; Mother Dorothy Nightingale of Fort Fairfield, ME; Sister Carolyn her Husband Gerald McKenna; Sister Debbie and her husband Jim Iverson; Brother Gary and his significant other Sheila all of Fort Fairfield, ME.  His children; Lisa Flores of Anchorage, AK; Kimberley and husband Steven Myers of Windermere, FL; Freddy Nightingale Jr. of Florida; Barbara and husband Scott Schoedler of Windermere, FL; Christy Wheatley of Florida; Rachel and husband Joshua Berry of Hermon, ME; Samantha and husband Nicholas Varney of Bangor, ME; Jimmy and Robin Bacon of Caribou, ME as well as, 15 grandchildren including Madison Bacon, and 8 Great Grandchildren, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.  The family is so thankful for all the memories they shared together and would like to thank the wonderful hospice care team that took great care of him towards the end of his life.  Fred was such a beautiful person inside and out and will be greatly missed, by all!

A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
