DOROTHY DAKIN RAGAN NOLAN

San Antonio, Texas & Fort Fairfield - After a long hospitalization, Dorothy Nolan, passed away on March 13, 2016 at the age of 73. She was born in Smith’s Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada on December 20, 1942 and moved with her parents, Wesley and Florence Dakin to Fort Fairfield, Maine in 1952. She spent her teenage years in Northern Maine.  She married David Ragan who was in the USAF and moved to San Antonio, TX in the early 1960’s. She received her Masters RN nursing degree at University of Texas and was a loud and proud Longhorn.  She worked various positions eventually becoming the Director of Nurses of the Capital City Nursing Home, in Austin TX for number of years. She spent the last twenty years of her nursing career as a case manager for Seton Northwest Hospital and retired in 2005.  Dottie was a faithful communicant of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in San Antonio, TX.  Dottie loved her church and church family and found great joy as a member of the choir.  Dorothy is survived by her sister, Virginia Slemer, of Orlando, FL; her three children; Debra Ragan of San Antonio, Texas, Dara Slade of Austin, Texas, D’Arcy Jones, of Austin, Texas. She has seven grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. Dorothy loved her family very much and was very active with her family. She welcomed many of her children's and grandchildren's friends into her home and guided many of them with her love and understanding. She will be missed very much.
