Reta Helen (Rogers) Putnam

   Reta Helen (Rogers)Putnam died in Rutland, Vermont on May 11, 2015 at the age of 94.  Reta was born in Fort Fairfield on September 3, 1920, the fifth of seven children of Jasper Rogers and Hortense “Tensey” (Higgins) Rogers.  In 1937, Reta married John Warren Putnam, also of Fort Fairfield.  The couple had five children.

   After the first two children were born, Reta and John moved to Connecticut, where the remaining three children were born.  After Reta and John retired in 1982, they moved to Zellwood, Florida, where John died just five weeks later.

   Reta lived on her own for the next thirty years, in spite of being diagnosed with macular degeneration at age 80.  At age 92 Reta moved into assisted living in Vermont to be near her daughter.  Memorial services will be held in Florida at a later date.
