DAWN L. SHAW

Fort Fairfield – Dawn L. Shaw, 84, passed away Sunday morning September 16, 2018 at a Caribou nursing facility, following a brief illness. She was born in Fort Fairfield on February 6, 1934, the daughter of Edward and Irene (Daigle) LaPointe. Upon graduating from Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1951, Dawn began her 60 year career as a legal secretary for the law firm of Sage, Ayoob and Langley in Fort Fairfield and continued working for the same firm until her retirement in 2013. Dawn was a lifelong communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield and reminded her children that she had “sat in the same pew at church since she was eight years old.” She was predeceased by her parents; one sister, Earleen McKenney; one brother, Ralph “Sonny” LaPointe. Dawn is survived by her children, Catherine Bowker and her husband Frederick of Fort Fairfield, Judith Shaw of Windham, Joseph Shaw and his wife Kathy of Augusta, Peter Shaw and his wife Theresa of Gorham; two sisters, Irene Thorpe of Canton, MI, Theresa Ashfield and her husband Robert of Fort Fairfield. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Gabrielle Bowker of Standish, Benjamin Chamberlain of Bath, Samuel Chamberlain of Windham, Claire Chamberlain of Ellsworth, Emilio, Elyjah and Michelle Shaw of Gorham; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends called Friday September 21, 2018 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday September 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with Rev. Nehru Stephen Savarayia celebrant. Private interment took place at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments took place after the Mass at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Council Number 1753, 260 Main Street. Fort Fairfield. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staffs of both Cary Medical Center, the Caribou Rehab and Nursing Home and the residents of the Caribou Rehab and Nursing Home for their kindness, care and love shown to Dawn during her illness.
