ADA E. TILLEY

Fort Fairfield – Ada E. Tilley, 80, wife of the late George A. Tilley Sr., passed away Sunday evening, May 13, 2018 at a Bangor healthcare facility, following an extended illness. She was born November 29, 1937 in Bristol, New Brunswick, the daughter of Alfred and Doris (Shaw) Banks. She attended school in Bristol, NB and was married to George A. Tilley Sr. on October 20, 1954. She was a dedicated and hardworking homemaker, and enjoyed flowers, gardening, bird watching, baking, cooking, and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Ada was predeceased by her husband George on April 23, 1994; one grandson Jessie; two brothers, Winston and Roland Banks; two sisters, Violette Garth, and Barbara Brooker. She was also predeceased by her son Jeffrey’s partner, Barbara Merrithew. She is survived by five sons, Kenneth Tilley and his wife Anna Miriam of Oceanside, CA, Stephen Tilley of Bangor, Jeffrey and Peter Tilley, both of Fort Fairfield, George Tilley Jr. of Presque Isle; two daughters, Nancy Wilson and her husband Jim Sr. of New Sweden, Peggy Baker and her husband Lee of Lancaster, NH; one brother, Wallace Banks and his wife Laura of Shelburne, Ontario; twenty-one grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends called Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Interment will follow at Peers Cemetery, Caswell. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments was held after the interment at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield.
