Many of us can agree that here in Maine we have a unique lifestyle that’s relatively different from the rest of America. Tonight I’m going to be explaining what Maine is famous for, while also demonstrating why Maine is such a beautiful state. I’m going to start with Northern Maine because I’ve lived here my whole life.

I believe the most important part of Northern Maine is our beautiful wildlife. We have beautiful rivers, pine trees, moose, majestic birds, and black bears, just to name a few. Another fundamental part of Northern Maine is our agriculture. 47,00 acres of potato field are grown in Maine every year, and 90% is grown right here in Aroostook county. Although we are a very rural area, Northern Maine is a very exceptional and safe place to raise a family.

Western Maine is known for its lakes and mountains. A very special feature of Western Maine is Moosehead Lake. At a length of approximately 40 miles, Moosehead lake is the largest lake in Maine and the second largest in New England.

Perhaps what Maine is best known for is its rugged coastline, lobster, and lighthouses. It’s been said that Maine lobster is the best lobster, and I believe that’s true. Over 90% of America’s lobster supply is caught off the coast of Maine.

But maybe the most important part of Maine is our people. From the lobstermen of the coast to the potato farmers of Aroostook county, we’re all Mainers, and we all get along, despite our differences. That’s truly what’s special about Maine. Maine really is ‘the way life should be.’
