JOHN T. BRIGHT
Fort Fairfield & Caribou – John T. Bright, 80, husband of Ada (Murphy) Bright, passed away Wednesday morning, April 27, 2016 at a Caribou healthcare facility, following an extended illness. He was born November 20, 1935 in Huxley, Texas, the son of William and Lillie Mae (Curtis) Bright. He served his country with the United States Air Force during the 1950’s and had been stationed at Loring Air Force Base for a period of time. Following his military career, John worked for several area farmers and for Potato Service, Presque Isle. He also made potato baskets and during the mid 1970’s and supplied many baskets to area farmers. He is credited for making the World’s Largest Potato Basket, measuring 13 feet across and 13 inches deep, which was donated to the Presque Isle F.F.A.. In his retirement, John also constructed and sold picnic tables, patio chairs and swing sets. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid fisherman. He was predeceased by his parents; and one daughter, Vicky Bright; and is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ada Bright of Caribou; three sons, Thomas Bright of Presque Isle, Wade Bright and his companion Jackie Everett of Fort Fairfield, Ricky Bright and his wife Michelle of Presque Isle; two daughters, Katherine Schieber and her husband Fred of Caribou, Deborah Belanger of Bristol, CT; one sister, Lucille Cartwright of Texas; five grandchildren, Robert and Christopher Belanger, both of Florida, Ryan Schieber of Caribou, Katie Bright of Presque Isle, Lily Rose Fearon of Presque Isle; several nieces and nephews. In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield with the Rev. Kevin Kinsey officiating. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Bright to the Maine Veterans Home Memorial Fund, 163 Van Buren Road, Caribou, Maine 04736.
