REBECCA “BECKY” MCCREA GRIFFETH
Fort Fairfield & Caribou – On Friday February 21, 2020 Rebecca “Becky” McCrea Griffeth passed away unexpectedly surrounded by her family. She was born September 2, 1947 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Raymond and Margery (Osgood) McCrea. Becky graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1965 and continued on to earn her nursing degree from EMGH in Bangor in 1968. In November of that year she married her high school sweetheart John F. Griffeth. She was a dedicated nurse at the Community General Hospital, Fort Fairfield and The Aroostook Medical Center, Presque Isle for the next 30 years while raising their 4 children on their family potato farm. Becky loved nothing more that spending time with her family, hosting family celebrations, picnics, holidays, and attending any extra curricular activity for her children and grandchildren, no matter how far the travel. No one was prouder of their family’s accomplishments. She made everyone feel like they were a part of her family and was affectionately known as “Grammie Becky” wherever she went. She always saw the glass as half-full and had an encouraging word no matter the situation. Her positive outlook and caring ways were just part of her daily routine. Her final act as an organ donor helped save many lives. It was Becky in a nutshell always being selfless and helping others. She leaves behind her husband of 51 years, John F. Griffeth of Caribou; one brother, Rick McCrea and his wife Cheryl of New York; two sisters, Carla Obar of Vermont and Kristina Scrutchfield and her husband Andrew of Portland; her daughter, Michele Blackstone and her husband Kyle of Caribou; her three sons, John Griffeth II and his wife Kimberly of Fort Fairfield, Matthew Griffeth and his wife Danielle of Caribou and Stephen Griffeth and his wife Amber of Fort Fairfield; her 11 grandchildren, Benjamin and his wife Casey, Breen and his girlfriend Lexi Theriault, Brennen, Gracie, Blake, Grayden, Chase, Joslyn, Charlie, Solomon and Annalise; her 2 great grandchildren, Beckett and Bode.
