A. LOUISE MANTER LIBBY
Fort Fairfield & Presque Isle - A. Louise Manter Libby, 92, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a brief illness. She was born October 21, 1927 in Easton, the daughter of Banford W. and Jennie V. (Flewelling) Ladner. She attended Easton schools and was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1946. Louise went on to further her education at the Fisher Business School, Boston, receiving a degree in Executive Secretarial and Bookkeeping in 1948. She had been employed as a teller at the First National Bank, Fort Fairfield, as a bookkeeper for the S. Nightingale Company, Fort Fairfield, and the Fort Fairfield Plymouth Hotel. Louise also worked for the Federal Deposit Insurance Company in Fort Fairfield, the Loring Air Force Base as cashier and secretary at Headquarters and finished her career with the Internal Revenue Service in Santa Anna, California. She was married to Alton G. “Bud” Manter Jr. and later married Wendell G. Libby Sr.. Louise was a dedicated member of the Fort Fairfield Celebration Center and will be dearly missed by her church family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Libby was predeceased by her husband Wendell in 1992; two brothers, Montford Ladner, and Merlon Ladner; one sister, Fern Morgan. She is survived by three sons, Richard S. Manter and his wife Lynn of Tustin, CA, Wendell G. Libby, Jr. of Huntington Beach, CA, Timothy C. Libby of New Castle, CO; two daughters, Margaret Rae “Peggy” Hayes and her husband John of Benton, Ark., Jennie L. “Penny” Miller of New Castle, CO; one sister, Mavis Towle of Presque Isle; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Montford (Arleen) Ladner of Easton; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends called Tuesday January 14, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Celebration Center, 170 Houlton Road, Fort Fairfield. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Celebration Center with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the service at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place later in the spring at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.
