HAROLD L. SCOTT

Fort Fairfield & Houlton – Harold L. Scott, 92, husband of the late Gladys (Rockwell) Scott, passed away Sunday evening, August 25, 2019 at a Caribou nursing facility, following a brief illness. He was born September 12, 1926 in Houlton, the son of Sidney and Gertrude (Carr) Scott. He attended Houlton schools and served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was married to Gladys Rockwell on July 8, 1957 and had been employed as a carpenter and a custodian for the S.A.D. No 29 School Department, Houlton for a number of years. Harold was a life member of the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Fort Fairfield, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Smart-Ricker Chapter No. 10, Presque Isle. Harold generously volunteered his time at the Fort Fairfield Elementary School, and the Fort Fairfield Friends Helping Friends Food Pantry. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially enjoyed giving his grandchildren and great grandchildren rides in his lawn tractor. In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his wife Gladys on February 16, 1996; three brothers, Robert, Earl and Mearlon Scott; two sisters, Ellen Lycet and Pauline Connors; and a special friend, Tiny Holbrook. He is survived by one daughter, Luella Warner of Limestone; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Jack Scott of Hodgdon, Gloria and Al Curtis of Bangor; three grandchildren, Christina Warner and her companion Daniel Plaud of Mars Hill, Melissa Warner of Limestone, Raychel Ward and her husband Matt of Auburn. He also leaves behind special friends Hannah and Sarah Holbrook of Bangor; six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Friends called Thursday August 29, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield where the funeral service was conducted at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Military Honors were held at the funeral home after the service. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments was held after the service at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Fort Fairfield. Interment took place at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton.
